Dear friends of powerlifting,
We are very sad to report of the passing of Masako Okumura from Japan. Masako passed away at the age of 90. She was still a competitive powerlifter and a 5 time World Bench Press Champion! Masako was still training and was also going to be torch runner for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
On behalf of the IPF Executive Committee, the Member Federations, the athletes and officials, our sincerest sympathy and condolences go out to her family, friends and to the Japan Powerlifting Association. Masako was a friend to everyone, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
