Prohibited List

The WADA Prohibited List

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List is the International Standard that identifies the substances and methods prohibited in-competition and out-of-competition. WADA is responsible for the preparation and publication of the List, which it updates every year effective January 1.

The 2024 Prohibited List remains in effect until January 01, 2025.

WADA’s Summary of Modifications and Explanatory Notes provides a review of changes in the 2024 Prohibited List and IPF encourages all athletes and support personnel to review the documents.

The Monitoring program is a list of substances which are not on the Prohibited List, but which WADA wishes to monitor in order to detect patterns of misuse in sport. Please follow the link to view the substances on the 2024 Monitoring Program.

To verify the status of a substance or method on the WADA Prohibited List, contact:

  • Your local National Anti-Doping Organization (some NADOs offer online databases)

  • Your national sport federation, National Olympic Committee or a competent health professional in your country to find out what other resources are available.

  • Your physician or pharmacist
