318 athletes from 57 countries travelled to Druskininkai, Lithuania for the 2024 World Classic Open Powerlifting Championships, and what a show they put on! The standard of lifting has risen once again, and world records were broken more than 70 times during the course of the championships.
Congratulations to Team USA for winning the team award for both men and women. And to Austin Perkins and Sonita Muluh who were the male and female best lifters on GL points.
48 lifters received invitations to compete at the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China. More will be invited in the coming weeks to bring that number up to 64 classic athletes. Full details of the qualification process are available on our website.
I would like to thank the athletes for their dedication and hard work. They are our stars and we are delighted to celebrate their success. I would also like to thank the coaches, referees and other officials who work long hours to support our athletes and present their achievements to the world.
A big thank you to the meet director, Erlandas Petrauskas, and to the whole Lithuanian powerlifting federation for their hard work in putting on such a successful world championships.
