Sanctions and Consequences to Anti-Doping Rule Violations

Sanctions are referred to as consequences in Article 10 of the IPF Anti-Doping Rules and  are imposed once an anti-doping rule violation has been established. Other Consequences include Disqualification of Results.

The applicable period of ineligibility, or in other words the “ban” will vary depending on the classification of the substance or method involved in the Anti-Doping Rule Violation as well as the Anti-Doping Rule Violation committed.

Please refer to Article 2 of the IPF Anti-Doping Rules which defines all such violations and then refer to Article 9 and 10 of the IPF Anti-Doping Rules which outline in detail all the possible consequences and sanctions that can be imposed on Athletes or other persons as a result of Anti-Doping Rule Violations.

When the Athlete admits the Anti-Doping Rule Violation, waives his/her right to a hearing and accepts the consequences proposed by the IPF, the applicable sanction will be imposed by the IPF Anti-Doping Commission.

When the Athlete elects to proceed to a hearing, the applicable sanction will be imposed by the IPF Doping Hearing Panel, or, on appeal, by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The IPF will publicly report all Anti-Doping Rule Violations no later than twenty (21) days after a decision imposing a sanction has been issued by the IPF Anti-Doping Commission or Doping Hearing Panel, or after a final appellate decision has been issued.
