Our partners at the Alliance of Independent Recognized Members of Sport (AIMS) have written to us regarding the transition of leadership within the International Olympic Committee (IOC) from Dr. Thomas Bach to the newly elected President, Kirsty Coventry.
Stephan Fox, President of AIMS expressed deep gratitude to Dr. Bach for his transformative support of AIMS, including its IOC recognition and inclusion in SportAccord, as well as his endorsement of initiatives like United Through Sports. He also welcomed President Coventry, a decorated Olympian and long-time supporter of youth, equality, and inclusion. Her leadership is expected to strengthen the partnership between the IOC and AIMS.
I would like to echo Mr Fox’s gratitude to Dr Bach for his years of service and the important work he has done. I look forward to a new era for the Olympic Movement under Ms Coventry’s leadership and support her aims of fostering inclusion and building a better world through sport.
