The International Powerlifting Federation (“IPF”) is a signatory to the World Anti-Doping Code (“the Code”) and is recognized by the World Anti-Doping Agency (“WADA”) as a Tier I Code compliant International Federation. This is the highest level of compliance accredited by the WADA.
Last year, the IPF entered into an agreement with the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (“CCES”) to oversee its anti-doping program. CCES ensures the accountability and transparency of all aspects of the IPF’s anti-doping program including risk analysis, test planning, Therapeutic Use Exemptions (“TUEs”), in/out of competition testing, results management etc. Our partnership with CCES ensures our continued compliance with the Code.
As part of the new Code compliance for Code Signatories, Important, effective 1 January 2021, National and Regional Federations are no longer authorized to conduct their own testing protocols. All testing must now be performed through a Code Signatory: either a member federation’s National Anti-Doping Organization (“NADO”), or by CCES through the IPF. ALL samples must be analyzed by a WADA accredited laboratory.
Testing is done in accordance with an intelligence based test distribution plan that satisfies the IPF anti-doping rules, the Code, and the WADA Standards and Guidelines instead of a volume based approach.
The IPF wants to thank all of the member federations that have complied with the new Code requirements.
