(Strassen, Luxembourg) It has been brought to the attention of International Powerlifting Federation Executive Committee that Ms. April Hutchinson, an athlete with the Canadian Powerlifting Union (CPU), was suspended by her National Federation for two (2) years for a Code of Conduct violation toward another member of the organization. Notably, this past year, April has voiced her public disapproval and objections toward self-identifying transgender athletes participating in female powerlifting competitions in Canada.
The IPF respects the rights of our athletes to express their views on social issues that effect them, as well as their freedom of speech. The IPF Executive Committee shall contact the Canadian Powerlifting Union to request clarification on this matter.
