IPF secures long term support from Key Partners

Luxemburg, 27th January 2022

In a historic moment for the federation, the IPF has now signed long-term contracts with its key partners, Eleiko and SBD. The contracts will run for 8 years, from January 2022 to December 2029, and both companies are now upgraded to “Official IPF Presenting Partners”. This means that all IPF World Championships in this period will be officially named as “presented by Eleiko and SBD”. This move shows the increased engagement and commitment to the IPF by both partners and will elevate the sport to new levels.

The main objectives of these partnerships are to provide additional support for the IPF regions to raise standards all over the world, ensure good governance and increase athlete participation and inclusiveness. There will be more support for coach education programmes and youth development in the IPF and at regional level. Also crucial are the anti-doping programmes supporting the clean sport initiative and the innovation and technical development that both Eleiko and SBD excel at.

The IPF will collaborate with both partners on projects and initiatives to raise the profile of powerlifting around the world and to develop a future strategy on sustainability in the sport, covering areas such as championships, equipment, education and CO2 reducing activities.

Gaston Parage, IPF President: “Historic is the right word to explain what these agreements with both of our main partners will mean for the IPF. With the long-term nature of these partnerships, the IPF will be able to plan high-level activities and projects for several years ahead together with Eleiko and SBD.  With their support, the future of our sport looks very bright indeed.”

Erik Blomberg, Eleiko CEO: “Eleiko is delighted to significantly strengthen our partnership with IPF and the sport of powerlifting. With our new contract extending into 2029 we secure long-term support for the development of powerlifting while creating a strong foundation for innovation and collaboration. Eleiko has been a proud member of the powerlifting community for many years and we look forward to our continued partnership.”

Benjamin Banks, SBD CEO: “Supporting athletes and the development of powerlifting has been at the heart of SBD since our founding, and we are very pleased to make this long-term commitment to the IPF, which allows us to plan and cooperate on larger projects and investments. It has been a challenging time for athletes and the sport, but we are excited for what the future holds and look forward to making further announcements soon.”
