International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) announced today that Johan Smith from South Africa received a
seven (7) year sanction for an anti-doping rule violation. The athlete’s urine sample, collected
in-competition on 10 March 2023, revealed the presence of Ibutamoren which is listed in S2. of the WADA
Prohibited List as a Peptide Hormones, Growth Factors, Related Substances and Mimetics.
The athlete’s period of ineligibility will conclude on 14 April 2030. Until that time, the Athlete is subject to a
prohibition against participation purusant to Article 10.4.1 of the IPF Anti-Doping Rules.
