IPF Executive Committee Approves Postponement of 2026 Technical Rule Book Implementation

The International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) Executive Committee has approved the postponement of the implementation of the 2026 IPF Technical Rule Book to 1 March 2026.

This decision follows feedback received from IPF Member Nations and individual stakeholders, and reflects the IPF’s commitment to clarity, consistency, and effective implementation of its Technical Rules.

Interim Application of Technical Rules

Until 28 February 2026, the IPF Technical Rule Book, effective 01 March 2025, will remain in force and continue to govern all IPF-sanctioned competitions and activities.

Consultation and Review Process

As part of the approved process, the IPF will:

  • Review all correspondence and submissions received from Member Nations regarding proposed revisions to the Technical Rule Book; and
  • Circulate a draft version of the 2026 IPF Technical Rule Book (proposed effective date: 01 March 2026) to all member nations for review and feedback no later than 09 January 2026. The draft version will be emailed to all member nations and also published on the IPF Technical Rules webpage.

The draft rule book will clearly identify proposed revisions, and justifications for changes pending approval will be provided to ensure transparency and informed consultation across the membership.

Further updates will be communicated following the conclusion of the consultation period and any subsequent approvals by the IPF Executive Committee.

The IPF thanks its Member Nations for their continued engagement and constructive input in the ongoing development of IPF Technical Rules.
