Dear lifters, officials and member federations,
On Friday 28 December we learned of the passing of Japanese Coach and lifter Shigetoshi Asama who battled stomach cancer. He was only 59 years old.
Mr. Asama was involved in powerlifting for a very long time, his 1st competition was in 1990 and in 2009 he won the World Master Equipped Powerlifting Championships. Since then he would always be seen coaching at the World Open Equipped Powerlifting Championships.
On behalf of myself and the IPF Executive Committee we send our deepest condolences to Shigetoshi’s family, friends and lifting associates. Shigetoshi will be sadly missed!
