Dear fellow sports enthusiasts,
August 7th, our fellow German sportsman Toni Speth passed away.
On behalf of the IPF, we extend our deepest condolences to his family and relatives.
For over 40 years, Toni poured all his energy and passion into our sport and the German federation.
Toni began his sporting career in 1982 with the weightlifting section of TSV Burgau. He channeled his passion for strength sports into organizing numerous national and international competitions. Notable among these—in addition to many German Championships—were the European Championships held in Wemding (1993) and Chemnitz (2015).
Through his work as Anti-Doping Officer and Vice President for Sport in the German Powerlifting Federation, he contributed significantly to the structural and organizational development of the German Federation. He also served for many years as a doping control officer for the IPF and EPF and also as international referee. Together with his in 2024 deceased wife Eva he was very engaged in powerlifting.
In Toni, we lose a dedicated fellow sportsman and a friend.
Toni, we will never forget you.
Only those who are forgotten are truly dead.
You will live on in our hearts.
