Dear Friends,
We received sad news yesterday. Mr. Antero Kauranen of the Finnish Powerlifting Federation passed away.
Antero was a multiple World and European champion both in classic and equipped bench press and he still owns the European record for M4 74kg class single lift bench press. Antero loved all kinds of sports and he had a black belt in judo.
Antero will be missed dearly as a competitor and above all as a friend. Antero had friends in the powerlifting community all around the world. He always had time for a chat or some advice for younger athletes. He loved competition and the sport of powerlifting.
On behalf of the IPF Executive Committee, we send our deepest condolences to Antero’s family, to the Finnish Powerlifting Federation, to his friends, and to all of us that knew him. We will miss Antero vry much.
