2025 IPF World Open Equipped Powerlifting Championships in Cluj-Napoca / Romania

The 2025 IPF World Open Equipped Powerlifting Championships, held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, marked a remarkable highlight in the international powerlifting calendar. With 200 athletes from around the world competing at the highest level, the event showcased outstanding performances, exceptional sportsmanship, and an atmosphere of celebration that truly reflected the spirit of the IPF.

A total of 38 world records were set during the championship—an impressive testament to the athletes’ preparation, determination, and elite skill. Among the most notable achievements was the unprecedented participation of 21 Special Olympics athletes, representing the highest number ever included in a championship of this kind. Their presence and performances added a special and inspiring dimension to the competition.

Another highlight was the participation of many athletes who had competed just three months earlier at the World Games in Chengdu, China. Their ability to deliver high-level performances again so soon after such a major event underscored both their resilience and their passion for the sport.

The success of the championship was built on the exceptional work of the organizing team, led by Meet Director Alin Tomus and the President of the Romanian Powerlifting Federation, Ovidiu Panazan. Their dedication, precision, and hospitality ensured an event that ran flawlessly and offered an excellent experience for athletes, officials, and spectators alike.

Overall, the 2025 World Open Equipped Championships were a resounding success and a fitting conclusion to the IPF competition year. A heartfelt thank-you goes to the organizers and the Romanian Powerlifting Federation for their outstanding efforts and their contribution to a memorable championship.
